GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 516891
focus issue with fullscreen window on dual screen
Last modified: 2020-11-06 20:05:36 UTC
[ forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/461967 by Paul Brossier ] I'm using the default configuration, upgraded from stable. I have 3 windows open: a browser on the left screen, a term and a player on the right (iceweasel, gnome-terminal and amarok). The term is in fullscreen. When cycling through windows using Alt+Tab to go from the player to the browser, the browser at the left handside gains focus as expected, but on the right screen, the terminal comes up too, hiding the player behind it.
I just replicated your setup as close as I can, and can't reproduce. Using GNOME 2.22 (Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring), Darklooks theme, Firefox (2.x), AmaroK 1.4, gnome-terminal. All three windows maximised. Two screens, both 1680x1050. So either this is fixed in 2.22 or there's something else unique about your setup that isn't in the report. I have no official standing here, I was just reading Thomas' blog and he mentioned this was one of two bugs he couldn't really address, so I thought I might provide what input I could on this report as I have two screens so I can try to reproduce it.
This bug is still around in Gnome 3.18 and therefore in GTK3.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you can still reproduce this issue in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
