Hi I was using the sound application (system>preferences>hardware>sound) to test my sound using the alsa plugin and oss plugin and alc883 analog plugin under each category, e.g. "sound events" I am using the 64-bit version of Fedora 8. I got the error in the summary (). I reninstalled the kernel using yum fixed my menu.1st file. Then I reinstalled all of the gstreamer plugins good bad ugly. I did not reinstall gstreamer, because it depended on stuff like openoffice.org which I did not want to remove. The sounds in the sounds application work, but when I try to run something like banshee, mplayer, etc it doesn't.

Note: I tried to install Realteks audio codec (realtek-linux-audiopack-4.07b.tar.bz2) I am not sure, but I think I was getting an error with the alsa plugin about gstreamer before installing realteks codec pack, but the oss plugin worked. It told me that it could not find any legacy audio drivers for my sound card even though it is an alc883. My motherboard is K9A Platinum (MS-7280) http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K9A_Platinum&class=mb
Integrated Sound is Realtek 7.1 CH HD audio. The pulseaudio sound server tests okay. I am telling you this, because it may have something to do with realteks driver that I tried to install even though it says gstreamer.

All I have to do to reproduce this bug is open the sound application and click test.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade.
