env: LANG=fr_FR@euro. If using LANG=C, works like a charm.... seems meld hates ISO-8859-1 (sigsegv in g_markup_escape_text)
Maybe a gtk+/pygtk bug then? Do other pygtk apps work in that locale?

Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash.
