GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 500738
Add more configuration options
Last modified: 2013-02-21 10:57:40 UTC
Hi, It would be great if it was possible to have a Public folder read-only and a dropbox inside it with write permissions only. I would also like to change the public folder using the GUI and preferably have the possibility to add as many shared folders as I want with few protection schemes like : - read only - write only - read and write - read for anyone and write with password - read with password and write with password ...
I agree, it's not practical to move all the files I want to share to the Public directory. And I miss the option for the protection schemes mentioned here as well. I just discovered gnome-user-share by chance when I was searching through the Ubuntu package repository and checked it out. It works, but it's still not very mature. This has the potential to be a very useful application for file sharing over LAN though, so I hope this will eventually be included in GNOME itself. I hope the developers will notice this one year old bug and pick it up.
