Description Og Maciel 2007-11-18 14:25:38 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I have tried several times importing my existing WordPress 2.3.1 data into my blogo account, but it always fails. Since my data is approximately 17MB, I'm wondering if there's a limit threshold I'm hitting?

Steps to reproduce:
1. Export existing wordpress blog data;
2. Try to import it into blog choosing wordpress format
3.

Actual results:
After a few minutes (when the data is supposedly being uploaded, you're faced with the generic question: "Are you sure?" with a Yes and No Button. I'm assuming the question is really: "Are you sure that you want to upload this data?", but no matter what you click, the end result is the same.

Expected results:
My data should have been imported and my posts should be available

Does this happen every time?
Yes

It's been 10 days since I've filed this issue. Feedback?
Comment 2 Jeff Waugh 2007-11-28 22:36:01 UTC
Sorry, no idea why I didn't notice this -- only found it through the link on your blog today.

That said, please don't use bugzilla for support questions. It's not the best place to get a response for that kind of thing.

To answer your question: It's most likely the upload size limit. Try splitting the export file into three chunks (you'll have to fix up the XML appropriate).

Sorry, but I'm going to close this NOTABUG. Please grab me by IRC or mail. That's where I do the bulk of blogo support (which I do a bloody brilliant job with, by the way, and you can ask anyone who has asked for help with blogo -- do *NOT* use this as an excuse to flame me as a result of Murray's character assassination).

Actually, I *DO* know why I didn't notice this, as I just realise: I'm not getting *ANY* bugmail out of the blogs.gnome.org component at all, because that hadn't been configured yet (and there's no SVN module for it to be autoconfigured from).

I sincerely hope that I am eviscerated in public, shamed and attacked for this oversight, because that will motivate me to continue my volunteer work in GNOME even more.

Everyone needs a bit of hot, sharp, negative reinforcement to keep their mind on the ball, don't they?

Thanks.

Jeff, not really sure why you went off like this, but due to the latest circumstances I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. I only filed this issue via bugzilla because: a) there was no information stating otherwise; b) there IS a category for it, so you do the math.

I will try to split the file and see if that works, and NO, I have no reasons to use this against you. I too, believe it or not, am a volunteer and understand how things work.

Cheers,

Og

I went off at the situation. You'll note that I was very polite in my comments directed to you.

I understand your confusion, but bugzilla is never a place for support requests. Just something to keep in mind for the future.

Let me know how it goes.
