Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Unfortunately, the stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash.

Could you please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start the application as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible?

Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the 'Details', now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance!

[1] Please install debug packages for nautilus, glib2, gtk2, pango, gnome-vfs2, libgnome, and libgnomeui.

More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces

Hi!

Well thanks for developing linux stuff - much appreciated :)

ok Let's nail this bug ! :]

I've tracked it down to this.

I create a blank file on my desktop: rclick -> Create Doc -> Empty File
I call it banana
now I rclick it -> Properties -> BUG!!!

now I rename it to banana.h
and rclick -> Properties , and this time it works - the properties window shows!!

Now I test a few files & folders to figure out what's going on:
The test is just : rclick -> Properties
Some files work and some don't.

things that work:
----------------
Folders seem to all work.

a .tar.gz worked.
a .h file worked.

Things that don't
-----------------

movie files (.mkv) don't work (this was how i came across the bug the first time)

files that don't have a registered association seem to all fail

a .ini failed
a .xml failed

Please let me know if you'd still like stacktrace / version stuff & I'll be happy to provide all... after all Linux is a hobby for me

Sam

okay, according to your description, this is bug 440988 which is not an upstream GNOME problem. there is nothing we can do here because it is fixed in GNOME already, i kindly ask you to report this to http://bugs.debian.org (with a link to bug 440988) because it seems to be not fixed in Debian. Thanks!
