GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 494279
Large format print page not accepted by print
Last modified: 2008-10-30 20:04:02 UTC
Please describe the problem: Gimp for W32 using an Epson 7600 plotter trying to print a TIF file 7200x10800 @ 300dpi either before or after configuring the paper size in the general area, after selecting the Image Settings tab, the printable area is set to 8.00 x 10.19 with a resolution of 1059.836. Selecting the correct paper size through the Adjust Page Size and Orientation button will allow selecting the correct size and a return to the main Image Settings window, however the all functions are frozen except print cancel and apply. Steps to reproduce: 1. address a plotter ( Epson?) with a large format output 2. select a Super A1 through the Gimp Print window General tab printer preferences 3. Attempt to adjust the page size through the Adjust page size and orientation button Actual results: Controls in the image settings window of print freeze except for the print, cancel and apply buttons Expected results: Would be able to print a 24" x 36" Super A1 image through GIMP ( works with 2.2.17 and before ) Does this happen every time? Yeah - similar problem with smaller 18 x 24" image. Different numbers but the same problem - tried TIF and XCF Other information:

Once Inkscape 4.6 came out, their GTK print issue emerged and I could not print at all. I found a suggestion elsewhere, recommending one remove/disable print.exe from the Gimp plugin folder and replace it with winprint.exe. That seems to have cleared things up for me. Regarding Inkscape, I have both 4.5 and 4.6 installed and use 4.5 for printing. jfh
P.S. I copied winprint.exe from the plugin folder of a Gimp 2.2 install on another computer. Of course using winprint.exe disables the advanced features of print.exe, but since they did not work anyway it doesn't seem to matter.
