It would be convenient if there was a disclosure triangle besode the "-- Split Transaction --" text that would expand the split. That way the user wouldn't have to move their mouse up to the 'Split' toolbar button.

This applies to the "single-line" view mode. In "auto-split" or "all lines" view mode you see (as the name implies) all of the lines all the time.

An interesting suggestion in any case.
