Description Matěj Cepl 2007-11-02 15:11:17 UTC
Please describe the problem:
There are two OGG streams in the Czech radio (well, there are many more; http://www.rozhlas.cz/audio/vysilani -- OGG is primary format for all of them), one is for classical music (http://www.rozhlas.cz/audio/download/ddur_lowogg.m3u) which works perfectly and other is a news stream (http://www.rozhlas.cz/audio/download/radioCesko_ogglow.pls) which after playing for some time (from a minute to tens of minutes) ends. When trying to play it again with RB, it refuses to play anything saying that there is an itnernal error of path. Ouptut of rhythmbox -d is attached (hopefully, it won't be too big for b.g.o).

The problem persists since at least RHEL5beta2, then it was in FC6, F7, and now in Rawhide.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert to Radio Stations Rádio Česko (http://www.rozhlas.cz/audio/download/radioCesko_ogglow.pls)
2. Listen to it
3.

Actual results:
After some time (from couple of seconds to twenty minutes) playback stops

Expected results:
It should play until I stop it.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
Mplayer and kaffeine have no problems.

Comment 3 Bastien Nocera 2007-11-02 15:50:41 UTC
I played this for 30 minutes in Totem, so I don't think it's a GStreamer issue. Does this happen if you switch the cross-fade off (or on, whatever state it's in now)?

There's also a _lot_ of unrelated stuff in the debug. Please make sure you do minimum runs of Rhythmbox when attaching debug info.
Comment 4 Matěj Cepl 2007-11-02 16:02:54 UTC
Sorry, for the cruft -- I wanted to keep my RB as close to the reality as possible. And yes, it seems that totem is working better.

I had crossfade off, so I will try to reproduce it with the one on.
Comment 5 Matěj Cepl 2007-11-03 15:05:31 UTC
Bastien, I have tested both totem and rhythmbox on the news stream, and the conclusion is that totem is ALMOST working (it happened just once through approx. five hours of testing that it finished with very unhelpful error message -- back translated from Czech so no guarantee for correct translation -- "An error happened. Internal error in data flow."), however rhythmbox (both with and without cross-fading) got to the same trouble ("internal error in data flow") like every ten minutes max.

Both totem and rhythmbox had to reload cache repeatedly (a short interruption of playback continuing in couple of seconds later than before the interruption) -- an operation which apparently totem is able to do ratherly safely, whereas rhythmbox just cannot do it, apparently.

Any ideas, what's going on?

Still true with the following F8 packages:
[matej@viklef ~]$ rpm -qa totem rhythmbox gstreamer-plugins\*
gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.6-5.lvn8
totem-2.20.1-2.fc8
gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.5-14.lvn8
gstreamer-plugins-pulse-0.9.5-0.4.svn20070924.fc8
gstreamer-plugins-schroedinger-0.9.0-1.fc8
rhythmbox-0.11.3-7.fc8
gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.6-7.fc8
gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.15-3.fc8

Could be a dupe of #396409
Comment 8 Jonathan Matthew 2008-07-01 11:33:19 UTC
Yes, these are chained ogg streams.
