In older Evolution versions when it came to doing searches there were two big targets that were easy to aim at to perform common operations: how to select the kind of search (subject, sender, body, etc) and to clear the results of a search.

They came in the form of two large buttons [Search Kind]: [.......... ] [Clear]

Now we have a much cuter entry with two icons [*............*] the icon on the left is used to change the search kind, and its hard to hit.   I do not change this very often, so I can imagine living with this.

But clearing a search is a very common operation, and hitting that button all the time is annoying.  I feel like am playing one of those annoying video games where you have to aim at the location to open the doors.

Can we please get back a usable search bar?   

GMail has a fairly wide "Back to Search Results" that is way easier to hit than this.
