When adding a new account, the "account type" optionmenu lists each account type twice.  (see capture)

Note I have Empathy installed both from the official Debian package and from jhbuild (the one I usually run).

So you have profile files installed twice. It's not really a bug, you should just avoid installing the program 2 times.
