GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 490631
Evolution gives "Other Error" after I try editing most of my Exchange Contacts (but not all!)
Last modified: 2012-01-04 09:38:35 UTC
Please describe the problem: I use Evo 2.12 (ubuntu 7.10) in an office environment, connected to an exchange server. I works fine except when I open of my contact entries, modify it, and then click OK. I get an error message with title "Error modifying contact" saying: "Other Error"... which is not very informative. This happens when I edit any of my relatively recent (2 year-old or newer) outlook contact entries. When I edit my oldest contact entries, it works fine, the modifications get saved and all. It's weird. I can create a new contact and fill in all fields with no problems. I can click OK and the new contact gets saved. If right after that I reopen the new contact and change any field and then click OK, I get the error message mentioned above. I can also delete and copy contacts with no problems. The only annoyance is with contact edits. Unfortunately I use this a lot ... I believe that with Ubuntu Edgy this was working fine. Then Feisty and now Gutsy have this broken evolution feature. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect to an exchange server (my company's at least...) 2. add a contact, then click ok 3. open the contact, then change some fields (for example: add a note) 4. click OK: you get the "Other Error" uninformative message Actual results: you get the "Other Error" uninformative message (title: Error modifying contact) Expected results: The new information should be stored in the contact entry Does this happen every time? Yes. 100% of the time, with the newer contacts. Other information: Launching evo from a terminal doesn't show any extra information when this error is produced.
Hi Ariel, soory that nobody ever commented on this topic. Is this still a problem nowadays with a recent version of Evolution, or can this be closed?
No worries. Yes this can be closed, unable to reproduce. Thanks
Ah, thanks!
