I'm having the same problem. Gimp 2.4 installed fine, but when it gets all the way to the end of the loading It gives you the option to click "debug" or "close". It also reads "For more information about this error, Click here". Once you click it brings up another box which reads: "Error Signature AppName: gimp-2.4.exe Modver: 7.0.2600.2180 AppVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000378C0 Modname: msvcrt.dll" Then you have another option "To view technical information about the error report, click here". I have attatched the technical information to this comment.

Do you have any third-party scripts or plug-ins installed? This might be a duplicate of bug #490055 or #490617.

I did. I had about 5 third-party scripts installed. I deleted them and this solved the problem. Thanks.

It would help if you could test which scripts cause the problem and attach them to this report. We can then make sure that the problem is fixed for 2.4.1.

script

This is the script that was causing Gimp 2.4 to crash.
Comment 8 Sven Neumann 2007-10-29 10:25:13 UTC
The script uses an invalid string for the image-types parameter. This triggers a bug in GIMP which has been fixed already. The fix will be in the 2.4.1 release. Thanks for your report.
