GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 477112
Banshee should allow .is_audo_player to override iPod detection for Rockbox compatibility
Last modified: 2009-02-08 10:52:20 UTC
Please describe the problem: I installed Rockbox on my 3G iPod and put the appropriate .is_audo_player file in the root of the iPod. Banshee continued to see the iPod as an iPod device, and not as a USB Mass Storage device. The .is_audo_player file should override the iPod player detection since anyone who has an .is_audio_player file put it there on purpose and is wanting Banshee to see it as mass storage. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install Rockbox on an iPod 2. Put .is_audio_player on the root of the iPod 3. Start banshee and see that it is still reported as an iPod device and that syncing puts the music in the Apple Cryptic File Structure, instead of in the root directory or the directory specified by the audio_folders setting. Actual results: The iPod syncs through the Apple database Expected results: The iPod syncs thorough folders like a good UMS device Does this happen every time? yes Other information: Deleting everything with the word iPod, ipod or Ipod from /usr/lib/banshee/Banshee.Dap caused the device to be seen as a UMS device. Many thanks to abock in the #banshee IRC channel for the help. I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy as of Sept. 14, 2007
Created attachment 97759 [details] [review] Patch to ignore iPods with .isu_audio_player file Please check out the latest from the Banshee's stable branch and apply this patch and see if it does the trick. I don't have an iPod handy to test it atm.
Could anyone with an iPod test if this issue is still valid ? It doesn't look like the (now obsolete) patch was applied.
