GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 473583
Please use iso-codes iso-4217 file for currencies
Last modified: 2008-01-30 09:04:39 UTC
I notice you have a long list of currencies in the libgnomedb PO file. I strongly suggest you use the iso-codes package instead. It is installed by default in virtually all systems, and it maintains a standard and current list of all country names, languages, provinces and currencies in the world. Your list is less accurate than the iso_4217 (currencies) file, in a number of ways: it would be much easier for you to plug in to the iso-codes package and let its maintainers keep all these details up-to-date. Also, since we have already translated all these items for iso-codes, you have our translations available. There is no need to repeat them locally. You can contact the Debian iso-codes team with any queries: <pkg-isocodes-devel@lists.alioth. debian.org>. I hope this is useful (and saves me repeating translations in the future). ;) Clytie Siddall, Vietnamese translator

For reference, how do you deal with, say, Solaris here?
ping, can anyone answer comment #2 ?
Can't the iso-codes package be installed on Solaris?
