Description Seth Nickell 2001-09-10 01:06:15 UTC
If Nautilus begins to attract Macintosh users, they might try to eject media by
dragging the volume onto the thrash. It would be good if we could detect this
case and popup a dialogue telling them how to eject media with Nautilus.
(perhaps we could then proceed to eject the media for them, to be kind, but at
least we would discourage the ejecting of media by dragging it into the trash).

What does the current version of Nautilus do if you drag removable media into the
trash.

------- Additional Comments From duane@eazel.com 2001-03-02 11:02:43 ----

On Nautilus Hourly Build Mar 1 15:23:47:

Floppy Disk => It does absolutely nothing.
CD-ROM => It does absolutely nothing.

Note: The 'Trash' icon does highlight when the CD-ROM or Floppy is over it, but
nothing happens if you let go there.

------- Additional Comments From gzr@eazel.com 2001-03-02 11:16:22 ----

We do nothing. The trash icon does highlight however. We check for this case
in the code and ignore mount links.

------- Additional Comments From gzr@eazel.com 2001-03-13 23:01:31 ----

I think we should just not have the trash highlight when mount links are
dragged over it.

------- Additional Comments From snickell@stanford.edu 2001-03-14 00:31:35 ----

I thought it would be friendly to inform them why so they get the idea how to
handle it properly in Nautilus. Particularly good if a user isn't totally
familiar with having two mouse buttons. Not highlighting would probably be good
too, if somewhat subtle.

Suggestion:

Dialog title: [ Trash ]
You have dropped the disc $Volume_Label in the Trash.
Do you want to:
( ) Format this disc [not on ro media, e.g. CD-/DVD-ROM]
  ( ) Erase this disc [CD-RW specifically]
  ( ) Eject this disc
You can eject discs by right-clicking on them and
choosing "eject" from the pop-up menu [smaller font]
  (*) Do nothing
[Help] [O.K.]

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
