Please describe the problem:
I am a french translator of GNOME.
When I translated part of Tomboy, I found this text:
"0 indicates that the user "
"wishes to be prompted when a conflict occurs, so that they may handle each "
"conflict situation on a case-by-case basis."

I think that there is an error between "the user" and "they".

In English, "they" is commonly used as a gender-neutral replacement for "he" or "she".  Many consider this to be incorrect grammar.

In French, it would be translated as "on".

Does anybody think this string should be changed from "they" to "he or she"?  Is there a common convention followed in GNOME?
