GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 468445
gtkfilechooser save/save as dialog misplaces focus
Last modified: 2009-09-30 09:30:06 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/130224 "Binary package hint: libgtk2.0-0 With libgtk2.0-0 v. 2.11.6-1ubuntu3 1. From any app that can save/save as files, choose File->Save or File->Save As... 2. Focus is on the file list window of the dialog, so typing anything activates the "find-as-you-type" feature rather than Expected behavior: focus should be on the filename text input ..."
I would also suggest to replicate Nautilus' "rename file" behavior: If the application that opens the dialog suggests a file name with an extension, select only the file name and put the cursor between it and the dot.
bug #474831 looks similar and states the issue is fixed in SVN

Done, Bug #475161
That's still happening with GTK 2.12, reopening
Here's a screenshot of this error, hosted on Ubuntu's Launchpad website: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10851010/saving_in_gedit.png I found this was still happening in libgtk2.0 2.12.0-1ubuntu3 so I submitted a bug and they sent me here. Hope that helps!
Ubuntu patches for gtk+: http://patches.ubuntu.com/by-release/extracted/ubuntu/g/gtk+2.0/2.12.3-2/ I wonder if this has to do with the single-click patch for the shortcuts pane (bug #148828).
confirmed, I did a build without the patch from bug #148828 and that's working correctly
This should be fixed with the patch that went in for bug #419737. Please reopen this bug if the problem persists.
For me this is not fixed in 2.12.7-1. I'm using ubuntu hardy version. If I do a save document, I have the save behavior than in the comment #6
stupid me
(In reply to comment #10) > For me this is not fixed in 2.12.7-1. > I'm using ubuntu hardy version. > If I do a save document, I have the save behavior than in the comment #6 Huh... I just committed the fix to SVN yesterday. Are you sure you have that patch in your package?
Okay, I thought the patch was on the ubuntu build for a while ...
No problem. Please reopen if the bug still happens after the patch goes in (or a new gtk+ gets packaged) :)
