Description Jonathan Ryshpan 2007-08-06 02:38:10 UTC
Please describe the problem:
If you try to set up for mail reception for "Local Delivery" or by Edit->Preferences->[choose account]->Edit->Receiving Email->Configuration and try to enter the location of a Unix mail spool, say /var/spool/mail/jonrysh, you will be rejected with the error box:
The folder could not be created
     error accessing 'file:///var/spool/mail/jonrysh': File exists

Also (surprisingly) if you enter a location in which such a folder can be created, Evolution will create one.

Also, making any changes to the profile for an account (say to the "Reply To:" address or to the method for sending email) strips the last element from the file path, reducing /var/spool/mail/jonrysh to /var/spool/mail .

The same things happen with setup for "Standard unix mbox spool or directory"

Steps to reproduce:
1. See above.
2.
3.

Actual results:
Evolution gets a bad profile for receiving on this account.

Expected results:
Mail should be received.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
It's possible to fix this using gconf-editor (thanks Guenther), but it has to be fixed again every time a change is made to the account profile.
