4 Aug 2007: After applying approximately 326 updates to the 7.10 Ubuntu Alpha distribution, the problem went away. Too many changes were made at once for me to figure out what caused the initial crash; I suspect that this bug is related to the 7.10 alpha than to sudoku or gnome. I suggest that this bug be closed.
