GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 46204
Files deleted from shell remain in file window after being deleted/moved
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
If some files are deleted from a folder using a terminal, then all the files in that folder are deleted using Nautilus, the icons for the terminal-deleted files remain in the folder. I can still get properties on these 'ghost' files, but they don't go away until i move to another folder or refresh the view. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-01-31 13:48:15 ---- Same category as bugs #5885-5887. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-01-31 15:02:35 ---- This is the "file monitoring" feature. We originally intended this to work in Nautilus 1.0, but didn't get around to it. It can be implemented either by polling or by some sort of notification mechanism. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 40779 *** ------- Additional Comments From eem12@cornell.edu 2001-01-31 18:32:30 ---- IMHO, if you're not going to do this for 1.0, retaining the current behavior would be somewhat dangerous :-/ For deletion, leaving icons around is a minor issue, but if you're copying files and Nautilus silently ignores some deleted files, that could be a problem if a user isn't expecting it. I'd suggest deletion should silently drop icons for missing files, and copying/moving should bring up a dialog ('The following files were missing and couldn't be copied...') ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 20:58 ------- The original owner (pavel@eazel.com) of this bug does not have an account here.
