Balance Sheet: Should have a "value at cost" option
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:44:12 UTC
There should be an option to value all commodities at cost on the Balance Sheet.
Err... could you please elaborate what "value at cost" means? The Balance Sheet report has an option "Price source" in the General option settings; is that what you mean?
The Price Source only offers "Weighted Average", "Most Recent in Time", and "Nearest in Time" as options; not cost. For example, if I purchase 100 shares of XYZ at $1.00 per share and it increases to $1.20 per share, I still need the option of valuing them at cost: $1.00 x 100 = $100. None of the options provided allow for this. Similarly, if I have an inventory of widgets, which I have purchased 100 at $1.00, and 100 at $2.00, the balance on my widgets should be 100 x $1.00 + 100 x $2.00 = $300. The option to value FIFO or LIFO would be handy too. Thanks!
A have added a new "Average Cost" price source for reporting. Committed as r17266. Requesting backport for 2.2.
Backported by cstim in r17266 for GnuCash 2.2.6. Thanks a lot!
I mean r17283, of course :-)
