GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 452238
There should only be one GTKFileChooser bookmarks
Last modified: 2008-09-06 12:37:46 UTC
Please describe the problem: Right now there are two gtkfilechoosers. One is VFS-aware and using the bookmarks from Nautilus "Places" menu, and the other one doesn't use VFS. I think this is a huge problem because there are so many programs who don't use GnomeVFS and can't add things from smb://, for example. Eg., I tried to add a wallpaper from a network share and I couldn't figure out how to do it because "Network" wasn't available! Steps to reproduce: 1. Open wallpaper applet 2. Click "add" 3. Look for "Network" button Actual results: No Network button Expected results: Network button should be there, be VFS aware Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Created attachment 90862 [details] VFS-aware, Nautilus bookmarks available (although all wrongly named "/ on"), from Openoffice.org
Created attachment 90863 [details] from epiphany, no VFS, no network
Created attachment 90864 [details] no "Computer" option, no "Network" option, no VFS, no Nautilus bookmarks
Created attachment 90866 [details] my Nautilus Places bookmarks
Created attachment 90881 [details] Totem has yet another version of the file chooser, vfs aware, shows nautilus bookmarks (though named wrongly)
I want different bookmarks per application. I use different directories with Mozilla than I do with GIMP and than I do with XFCE. I actually find it to be infuriating that mozilla has my GIMP bookmarks.
the issue is fixed now that gtk is using gio
