Description damian 2001-09-10 00:46:51 UTC
Magicdev is running on Redhat systems >= 6.1 (and maybe others) by default. It
automatically mounts cdroms when they are inserted. I'm experiencing this
problem on Redhat 7.0 with the 200012061816 nautilus rpms.
Steps to reproduce:
1.) make sure magicdev is running. In the control center, look for "CD
properties", and check "automatically mount cd when inserted"
2.)]$ run-nautilus (with the desktop enabled)
3.) insert a cdrom
4.) try to mount the cd from the disks menu. nothing happens, but on the
terminal you will see:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems
(aren't you trying to mount an extended partition,
instead of some logical partition inside?)
4.) now try to mount the cd from the command line:
]$ mount /mnt/cdrom/
see the same thing:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom, ...
5.) quit nautilus
6.) repeat step 4, see the same thing
7.) eject the cdrom and re-insert it when nautilus is not running, and it's
automatically mounted.

The question is: is this a nautilus problem or magicdev problem? I would be
interested to see if this happens on other versions of Redhat.

I am unable to reproduce. Can you try again with the latest CVS and tell me if
you still see this happening?

If you're not doing wierd things to check if the CD is inserted, which I think
is the case after your change to nautilus volume monitor to watch /proc/mounts,
this should be fixed. Unfortunately, I cannot test this at the moment as my
CDROM is very broken.

The/proc/mounts change should have fixed this. I am unable to make it happen as
described now.

Sounds good to me. So does an icon appear when it's automagically mounted?

Verified fixed (got a new cdrom drive). Icon even appears when automagically
mounted. Awesome.
