GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 450019
compression level
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:13:33 UTC
Possibility to specify the level of compression (for zip or 7z for instance), like 7-Zip on Windows.
there is no ui for this, but you can use the gconf editor to change the compression level: The key is /apps/file-roller/general/compression_level Possible values : very_fast, fast, normal, maximum
please make this high priority! i need to change between "no compression" and "maximum compression" very often, depending on if i just need to pack already-compressed files together (JPGs, MP3s etc.) or really compress files to archive or to someone via internet.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
