The audio kind of plays, but very slowly, pausing so frequently as to have it just sound like a blip every second or so.

This does not happen with the normal backend or with Totem.

I suspect that this is a problem with the AAC GStreamer decoding. Please add a bug dependency if this is the case rather than changing this report.
