GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 442246
gnomevfssrc doesn't reregister with newly supported uri-protocols
Last modified: 2007-05-30 10:06:20 UTC
If you install the 'gnomevfs' plugin and let it register, and afterwards you install the auxiliary GnomeVFS packages which provide (for example) HTTP protocol support, then GStreamer will continue thinking gnomevfssrc doesn't support HTTP. This is because gnomevfssrc does not trigger re-registering when the list of supported protocols is different from the previous invocation.
True, it's a known problem for this sort of plugins. Easy to solve for packagers though (touch libgstgnomevfs.so). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 350477 ***
Thanks, I've recommended this workaround to Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=426694
