GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 440274
The HIG on tabs is not user friendly, it should allow multi lines.
Last modified: 2009-01-01 20:46:24 UTC
HIG 2.0 and GEdit as well as other applications do not allow multiple rows of tabs. Screen real estate for developers is often quite big. It would be preferable to allow users to click directly on the tab they want rather than scrolling until it comes into view. A limit could be set (by the user) and additional documents not in view could be fetched from a special tabdropdownlist that would list items not in view. Or some other mechanism such as the one now in place could be used as long as more rows of tabs could be presented to users. Other information: JBuilder does a great job of doing what I am trying to describe. Thanks!
Marking this as WONTFIX, as we follow HIG for this kind of things.
