GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 438101
List of shoutcast streams available in Rhythmbox is not as good as in Exaile.
Last modified: 2007-05-13 14:44:32 UTC
Currently when I open Exaile I can see a large(ish) list of shoutcast internet radio stations which include a wide variety of categories/genres. However when I open Rhythmbox I can only see 4 internet radio stations which is somewhat disappointing (especially seeing that one of these is Virgin Radio which is total bland crap :) I'd therefore like to see Ryhthmbox improved so I can see as many stations as I can under Exaile. In fact what I'd really like to see is a component that is shared between the two applications (in fact shared by any application that wants to make use of it) which will either search out a list of available shoutcast stations (sorry I don't know much about shoutcast so I don't know if there's some sort of discovery protocol for this ?) or will download a list from a central site (obviously with distributed mirrors etc. etc. There's just so much good internet radio out there - which is so well hidden !!! Probably something to do with the *AAs of the world trying to stifle competition and keep everyone on the spoon fed media outlets but... Cheers.
