What were you doing when the application crashed?
dragging an a launcher icon from the programs menu to the gdesklets icon dock.

Gimmie is unmaintained and no work is going on anymore.

If you are interested in hacking on the codebase:
A fork named Mayanna exists at http://groups.google.com/group/mayanna
