Description Sven Arvidsson 2007-04-26 21:35:12 UTC
[ Forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/421163 ]

"gucharmap allows the dragging of characters to other applications. It
would be handy if charpick_applet2 would allow this as well – it would
be a bit faster and not remove the contents of the copy’n’paste buffer."

I also think the current "copy to clipboard" behavior is a bit cumbersome (frankly, I had to read the manual to figure this out). But rather than drag and drop, wouldn't it be nice if clicking a character button automatically inserts a character where the cursor currently flickers, just like the Turkish Dictionary in the following page? (Javascript must be turned on.)

  http://www.turkishdictionary.net/

I think at least we should have this option, if not the default behavior. And no, I don't have a 3 button mouse (As far as I know the mojority of people don't).

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-applets and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-applets/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
