Not exactly a new request :) We should try to get this for 2.6.
Too late for 2.4 unfortunately.

Thanks for replying. I submitted the bug because when I googled "autosave" the last discussions I found of the feature (granted I didn't look hard) were from around 2002, and y'all were saying "oh, this should be easy, unfortunately there's a feature freeze, we'll do it next time...". It's been awhile. I thought it might be lost in the shuffle.

I wanted to write to remind you folks that there are ADD'd (power)users like me out there for whom autosave can be a make-or-break issue. I will inevitably lose hours of work because of this (I'll also learn the GIMP better by finding faster ways to do each set of tasks... is that what you're up to here, you sly dogs?).

Accumulatively, who knows? Tens of thousands of hours of your users productivity lost? Hundreds of thousands?

It's a shame, because you say it'd be so easy to implement.

I love the program, by the way, so much that I am trying to wean myself completely of the adobe addiction, even without autosave... we'll see how I do.

Please remember autosave!

Sincerely,
Rafael Dwan
