GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 43118
View as List doesn't appear in menu in trash:
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
To reproduce: (1) Type "trash:" into location bar and hit Return (2) Click on "View as" option menu to see contents (3) Note that only choice is "View as Icons". You can get to "View as List" via "View as Other" but it should be in there by default. I think the MIME type for the magic trash directory isn't matching the usual MIME type for directories, so it's not getting the same list of viewers. I don't know why it's getting the Icon viewer by default. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2000-09-15 16:30:23 ---- Here's what really happens: gnome-vfs doesn't know about the trash at all, so it has no MIME type. The icon and list view both say they can handle the trash (by scheme rather than MIME type), but our fancy MIME type code prevents the underlying oaf query from doing its thing and noticing that both viewers can work. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-16 19:30:05 ---- Batch-assigning QA ownership of remaining bugs to eli@eazel.com ------- Additional Comments From mjs@noisehavoc.org 2000-11-06 20:02:20 ---- This may be a significant design issue. Request higher prioritization than P4 or deferral. ------- Additional Comments From bud@eazel.com 2000-12-04 12:45:03 ---- This is a minor piece of functionality, and its absence should not present serious problems to the user. (Also, an obscure work-around exists for people who really care -- via view as Other) Moving to after 1.0 ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-02-05 14:14:31 ---- *** Bug 46339 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-03-26 11:19:09 ---- SPAAAAAAAAAM! Seems like it would be trivial to fix this. Adding easy fix keyword, should this be considered a gnome2 bug? i'm assuming not, but can't hurt to ask.
Think not, but if someone wants to fix it...
Well, it's definately a bug in GNOME2 nautilus, so setting appropriate keyword and confirming. Not a huge deal, so bumping severity down. I'm sure this is a pain in the ass to fix as well, as it looks to deal with some eazel-isms.

Apologies for the spam- I'm removing 'bugsquad' from some keywords via the web interface. This is a one-time only thing before I re-add bugsquad via the SQL interface, which will generate no mail. Apologies again.
Hm, not sure when or where but this bug is fixed as of at least Nautilus 2.4. Marking as FIXED. Go nautilus team, you rock!
