Description Sebastien Bacher 2007-04-14 13:39:35 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/93623

"Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

In Feisty development version with all updates as of March 19, 2007, Totem-gstreamer plays mp3 files with awful skipping, while Rhythmbox plays the same files fine. As both applications use Gstreamer as a backend, I presume this is a bug in Totem.

It plays OK.

OK, here it is. I loaded an mp3 and played the first several seconds (with skipping). The log is 23.5MB long, BTW."

Does it work if you switch off visualisations in the totem preferences and restart totem?

Does it work if you select a different type of visualisation? (e.g. libvisual_* instead of goom)?

distribution bug comment:

"Hi, Totem doesn't skip for me if I switch off visualizations. As for
selecting a different type of visualization, for some reason I cannot do
it - only Goom is available."

I think this has been fixed in gst-plugins-good CVS with the same commit that also fixed bug #407006:

  2007-03-06  Wim Taymans  <wim@fluendo.com>

        * gst/goom/gstgoom.c: (gst_goom_src_setcaps), (get_buffer),
        (gst_goom_chain):
        * gst/goom/gstgoom.h:
        Document, fix and improve goom adapter behaviour.
        Fixes #407006.

Please re-open if you can still reproduce the issue with goom from gst-plugins-good CVS.
