What were you doing when the application crashed?
turned off my digital camera.  I had just imported some photos and then deleted the photos from the camera then turned the camera off so that I could unplug it.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into
our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you
find.

This is fixed in 2.8.0 and later, available at
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gthumb.
