GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 429108
crash in Evolution: Closing Evolution. I'm ...
Last modified: 2007-09-24 14:01:32 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? Closing Evolution. I'm also having a terrible time with Evolution -- it crashes all the time and the integration with the gnome panel crashes all the time too (whenever I click on the time to see the calendar popup). I then have to kill gnome-panel so it will restart itself and work again (although the calendar popup doesn't work and can consistently freeze the panel). Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Could you please install some debugging packages [1], start the application as normal, and reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the Details, now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! [1] debugging packages for evolution, evolution-data-server, gtkhtml, gtk, glib, gnome-vfs, libgnome and libgnomeui (as far as those packages are provided by your distribution). More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces
Installed the following: evolution-data-server-dbg install gnome-control-center-dbg install evolution-dbg install libglib1.2-dbg install libgtkhtml3.8-dbg install gnome-panel-dbg install gnome-applets-dbg install libgnomeui-0-dbg install libglib2.0-0-dbg install

My boss has been having the same problems and he says he doesn't have these issues when he removes the Scalix evolution connector, so it may have something to do with that.
It should be also because your backend (evolution-data-server) died, as you mentioned in the first comment. And because it's exactly same part of stack as in bug #312348, then I will mark this as a duplicate. I hope it helps to remove Scalix connector as you mentioned in the last comment, at least if it was the issue which caused evolution-data-server die. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 312348 ***
