I can't reproduce this here. Did you try enough different images to rule out that none of them (being broken) is the actual problem?
We are still awaiting feedback from the bug reporter...
Sorry for my delayed answer. Here is the one thing i recognized with this bug. It only occurs, if i try to open a file from the FAT32 partition. Any other partition with NTFS works fine. kind regards Paul
(In reply to comment #3) > Here is the one thing i recognized with this bug. It only occurs, if i try to > open a file from the FAT32 partition. Any other partition with NTFS works fine. Do you have any special characters in the name of these files or the folders containing them? For example, "ß" or "ü" or other accented characters? If possible, please give us the full path names of the files that can be opened and of those that cause problems.
No special characters, because all files are original from my canon digicam. Files names like CIMG1442.JPG
I asked for the full path if possible. Or are you saying that all files are stored in the root of the drive, like C:\CIMG1442.JPG or G:\CIMG1442.JPG?
Hi, i tried to verify the error today, and i did these actions: 1. test: a. Open a file CIMG006.JPG at Z:\Bilder\2005\2005-09_Tunesien (NTFS partition) b. Opening another file vorsicht-katze.jpg at G:\ (FAT32 partition) c. gimp-2.2.exe crashes! 2. test: a. Open a file CIMG006.JPG at Z:\Bilder\2005\2005-09_Tunesien (NTFS partition) b. Opening another file CIM2568.JPG at Z:\Bilder\2007\2007-04-22_Katharina NO Crash c. Opening file kaernten.jpg at E:\paumit\Eigene Dateien (NTFS partition) NO Crash d. Opening file kaernten.jpg (same as before) at at G:\ (FAT32 partition) CRASH!! Hope this will help. Kind regards Paul
What version of GTK+ are you using? Sounds like a bug in GtkFileChooser.
Installed: GTK+ 2.8.18-1
Some additional questions: - Is G: a removable drive? - Do you have other FAT32 drives or partitions? - If yes, do you have similar problems with them? - Was G: ever used for some other kind of drive or different filesystem in the past? - Does the problem occur only for files stored in G:\ or also for files stored in a sub-directory such as G\whatever\...?
Could you try updating GTK+ to version 2.10 ?
(In reply to comment #10) > Some additional questions: > - Is G: a removable drive? NO > - Do you have other FAT32 drives or partitions? NO, except ths USB stick (FAT) > - If yes, do you have similar problems with them? > - Was G: ever used for some other kind of drive or different filesystem in the > past? NO, but i use it to transfer data from linux to windows > - Does the problem occur only for files stored in G:\ or also for files stored > in a sub-directory such as G\whatever\...? YES Aditional note: If i start gimp and open the first file from G: (FAT32) first, i can open it without crash. But any further file from G: forces a crash.
(In reply to comment #11) > Could you try updating GTK+ to version 2.10 ? > OK, just downloaded ;) i will report the result
SOLVED! With GTK+ 2.10 i could not reproduce the crashes. Thanks for your support
