Hello GIMP devs!

When most people use an image editing program, they usually keep more than one open file. And by the way GIMP manages windows, it generally means having a lot of 'GIMP windows' in the taskbar, and that certainly affects usability within your Desktop, and working with other applications as well. 

Is there any chance you could add the feature to disable individual windows for each image and each panel in GIMP? Just make it work like all other image editing software (like Inkscape, for instance). One window to rule them all. Once the window is active, you can switch between images by using Ctrl+Tab.

This would definitely improve usability in the GIMP as well, since most people are used to working with one app where the panels or the open windows don't behave like different windowsets.

Another nice feature that follows this, would be the ability to dock panels so as to make the UI cleaner. Perhaps add the "workspace background" (is that the right name?) so it also feels like you're using an integrated GIMP workspace. Not just a bunch of different windows floating around.

Well, that would be all. I (and certainly a lot of other people) would be most thankful if you could take this into consideration. However, I'm not saying "this is how things should be" (I guess a lot of people love the way GIMP works), I'm just saying "please add an option to make it work this other way too".
