GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 418520
Disable Folder -> Expunge in virtual folders
Last modified: 2014-03-13 17:26:55 UTC
Expuging mail is a delicate event for which the user should receive as much info as possible. When a user expunges the junk mail folder, the Inbox is actually expunged which may well not be what the user intended. 1) get some mail 2) tag a mail as junk 3) switch to the junk folder 4) select the mail => click the delete button 5) switch the view to show deleted messages ==> the message is shown in the junk folder as a deleted message 6) Expunge the folder ==> the dialog asks about expunging the junk folder but the Inbox is what will eventually be expunged. --adrian Other information:
every folder that includes email marked for junk will be expunged, i guess, because the junk folder is a virtual folder and it is not possible to expunge "specific emails only" from a folder.
Duplicate of bug #255153? (Note that bug #255153 is resolved NOTABUG, supposedly because this behavior is a consequence of the Junk and Trash folders design, but should perhaps be reopened to at least address the UI issues this creates.)
Still in 3.2.3
Expunging a virtual folder doesn't really make sense. Adjusting summary.
Fixed for Evolution 3.3.90 in: http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=5795e22cb7a67056948f81e1faca2dcecb9333de
