GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 416017
[blocked] Not all Firefox page content is "visible" to Orca via at-spi
Last modified: 2007-05-05 21:16:01 UTC
Please describe the problem: The latest page paragraph (footer) is not read by Orca's caret navigation. However if you disable the Orca caret navigation, Firefox caret one can access to the text. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open ff3 and Orca and activate the controlCaretNavigation. 2. Load the URL: www.tiflolinux.org 3. Down arrow to navigate the page until the end. Actual results: Orca's caret navigation can not read the footer paragraph. However if you disable the caret navigation in Orca, this paragraph is read with the Firefox caret navigation. Expected results: When Orca's caret navigation is enabled, you should read the footer text. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: Using latest Firefox 3 head and Orca 2.17.92 trunk.
I've confirmed that it works with Firefox's built in navigation, but not with Orca's. :-( Thanks for submitting this report!
This one is tough.... I took a look in AT-POKE, and the last object in the hierarchy for that page is the Distribuir Heading followed by the linked image. We're not getting stuck per se: As far as Orca can tell, that image is the last thing on the page. Initially, I thought CSS was affecting the order of the page content, but I do not see the footer *anywhere* via Orca and via AT-POKE. Still trying to work out what is responsible for it not being visible to us....
Given that the footer reliably fails to be exposed via at-spi as evidenced by its absence when the page is examined in AT-POKE and Accerciser, but is present in the DOM inspector, methinks this is a Firefox box. I've filed one here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373575 Changing the summary to reflect that we are blocked.
Just to add to this: I checked as well and cannot find the footer in the AT-SPI hierarchy. :-(
I have since discovered this problem to exist on the Google advanced search page. Mike just pointed out that indeed.com also suffers from this issue. (Mike I tacked on that page to the existing Firefox bug. When you find more such examples, please let me know and I'll keep adding them.) I'm updating the summary to reflect the more broad nature of this bug.
This problem has been fixed effective the 05-05-07 build of Firefox. Yea! I have confirmed that we can now access all of the page content on tiflolinux, the advanced search page at google, and indeed.com. Closing this out as resolved NOTGNOME.
