Description alextj 2007-03-02 18:27:17 UTC
Please describe the problem:
High scores dialog does not show up after finishing hard sudoku games. Absolutely nothing happens.

Normally after finishing a game, high score dialog pops up. It works when I play easier sudokus. But after I finish any of the hardest sudoku games, nothing happens.

I tested this a few times. Every time I got high scores dialog after finishing easy sudoku and not once after finishing hard sudoku. I do all of them quite fast without using hits or any other "extra features".

Steps to reproduce:
1. Just finish any of the hardest sudokus there is, high scores won't show up.
2.
3.

Actual results:
Nothing - that's the problem :)

Expected results:
I would expect High scores dialog to pop up, just like when I finish easy sudoku.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
Just in case, I am running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Herd 5, Gnome 2.17.92.

I have a similar (perhaps the same) problem on a medium (0.48) game.

I then deleted a number from the grid and the high score list popped up.

Strange, I just had the same problem on an easy game. I'll try to track down more information and add it to this bug report.

I had this on an easy game as well (actually the first I played) I wondered what I am supposed to do..
Randomly I reentered the numbers and the score-screen appeared (I had closed the game in between)

Further info:

It only seems to happen when I use <ctrl>+F to have it fill the last field of a row/square

Bug still occurs here, even though I never used <ctrl>+F, or any shortcuts for that matter.

Is the bug still happening with the latest source?

I've fixed some of these bugs in the past -- the bug is not related to the difficulty of the game. Rather, it is related to the internal-representation of the grid not reflecting the outer-representation of the grid. The problem is typically related to something invalid on the outer grid (albeit temporarily). For example, entering a number that conflicts with another number (which would show up in red), then erasing the other number (resulting in the number that was entered in red turning black). The code that makes sure those numbers get onto the grid has been broken in the past and is the best place to begin looking for this sort of bug.

Thomas, I just saw the same problem in 2.19.90.1 as shipped in Ubuntu Gutsy.

Also, this is probably a dup of bug 423478 now.

Definitely a duplicate of 423478
Comment 9 Thomas M. Hinkle 2007-10-06 14:00:48 UTC
Closing as dup of 423478
