GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 411470
Window list applet should show window titles in vertical panel
Last modified: 2007-05-13 13:59:17 UTC
When it is in a vertical panel, the window list applet just writes the part of the window titles that fits into the width of the panel. Usually very little of the title fits, and yet most of the area taken up by the applet is blank. Instead, the titles should wrap around, so that as much of them is shown as possible. If the panel is too narrow, they should instead rotate sideways. That would make the the best use of the space on the panel, and keep the titles legible the right way up if possible. Other information:
Created attachment 84524 [details] Panel on right shows window list with icons and no text I agree with this report. Especially relevant on widescreen displays where it's common to have panels on the sides rather than top or bottom. Currently I have a 24 pixel panel on the right with my window list and all I see is the icons. It would be very useful to see the name for the window vertically with the icon at the top of each window entry. Centered horizontally would be good too - at the moment it looks like the icons are centered vertically.
