Description Carl-Göran Nyrell 2007-02-20 17:07:42 UTC
The present version of GIMP can only handle 8-bit images.
To be able to reproduces all the fine colour details in modern digital system cameras this is not god enough. Shooting pictures in RAW format and develop them in programs like Capture One is waste of time and money if I thereafter make manipulations/changes in GIMP.
If GIMP shall be an alternative to Photoshop for me I need the possibility to manipulate 16-bit images in GIMP.

Suggestion: Upgrade GIMP so it can handle and process 16-bit images.
