GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 400733
mutlimedia keys not working
Last modified: 2007-01-25 22:54:05 UTC
Please describe the problem: I used to be able to use the multimedia keys on my keyboard to pause/play skip fwd/back tracks with RB. These seem to be no longer doing anything in RB. The keys are still being plumbed in Gnome as can be seen with dbus-monitor: signal sender=:1.1 -> dest=(null destination) path=/org/gnome/SettingsDaemon; interface=org.gnome.SettingsDaemon; member=MediaPlayerKeyPressed string "" string "Play" signal sender=:1.18 -> dest=(null destination) path=/net/sf/gaim/GaimObject; interface=net.sf.gaim.GaimInterface; member=UpdateIdle signal sender=:1.1 -> dest=(null destination) path=/org/gnome/SettingsDaemon; interface=org.gnome.SettingsDaemon; member=MediaPlayerKeyPressed string "" string "Previous" signal sender=:1.1 -> dest=(null destination) path=/org/gnome/SettingsDaemon; interface=org.gnome.SettingsDaemon; member=MediaPlayerKeyPressed string "" string "Next" RB just does not seem to be doing anything anymore when I press them. Steps to reproduce: 1. Obtain a keyboard with multimedia keys 2. Start RB 3. Press keys and watch RB do nothing Actual results: Nothing. Expected results: Play/Pause and skip FWD/NEXT tracks. Does this happen every time? Yes, now. It used to work just fine. Other information:
Rhythmbox doesn't support Gnome 2.17's new method of dealing with media keys yet. There is a patch on bug 398184, which will probably be committed to svn soon. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 398184 ***
