Description mannheim89 2007-01-21 14:49:21 UTC
Open gnome-system-log, go to the File menu and select open. In the dialog, navigate to /var/log/syslog.1.gz and click OK. Unfortunately, gnome-system-log displays a message box stating that "syslog.1.gz" is not a log file.

On many systems, log files are regularly rotated and compressed. The log file viewer should simply decompress the compressed files on the fly.
