GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 397273
[dscapturesrc] Plugin for Capture video in Windows
Last modified: 2010-02-26 08:36:26 UTC
Plugin is based on videotestsrc. It uses DSCapture (DirectShowCapture) library to grab video. DSCapture is part of the ejellyfish project found at berlios. I am sure there is some problems/bugs, but start is allways start.

What's the progress on this? Can this already be committed to gst-plugins-bad or is some more work required?
Reopening as I can't see any open question that's directed to the reporter. Dear maintainers, there's a patch bitrotting around :-\
I think this should be just closed and dropped ...or what ever is proper way to get rid of this. There is active developing with probably better plugin. You can find it from gst-plugins-bad and it is called dshowsrcwrapper. I haven't even test dshowsrcwrapper, but I have understood it have been tested better. Plugin has some problems with some hardware/software combinations. One more reason to drop this; it uses totally external library (DSCapture) which is not used anywhere else.
Joni: ok, thanks for the update, that answers most of the questions I was going to ask as well. Sorry we sat on your patch for so long without doing anything about it.
