dav servers may send relative uris back, where the base uri must be resolved with the request uri. relative uris will crash the caldav backend.

This bug is already know and has even a patch attached (see #354855) but I do like your version of the patch better (mostly due to cosmetically reasons - although the coding style of your version does not 100% match the rest of the code as well).
I am duping that and attaching your version of the patch to the other bug.
