Description Robert Ancell 2007-01-03 12:39:52 UTC
Add the board numbering (a1-h8) on to the board. Makes it easier for beginners?
Comment 1 Andreas Røsdal 2007-01-06 21:22:43 UTC
I'm not sure about this enhancement, it should at the very least be configurable.

I like the clean and simple layout of the current chessboard.

I was emailed with this suggestion independently so I've put some time into it. I've committed support for 2D mode; it's off by default and enabled from the view menu.
Comment 3 Robert Ancell 2007-05-16 14:11:13 UTC
The impression I get is beginners want the numbering and hinting initially but users with any experience will find these visually annoying.
