What were you doing when the application crashed?
Suse compilation of evolution data requires gnome-keyring which requires logging in as gdm.  Evolution cannot save passwords in kdm/kde.

Can you not start gnome-keyring-daemon manually? I think this is a distro problem, since they should make sure gnome-keyring-daemon is started if they depend on it in SuSE.
