GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 390121
Modal dialog on out-of-focus workspace prevents interacting with Nautilus in other workspaces
Last modified: 2010-07-21 20:50:12 UTC
I'm new to workspaces. And it can be confusing when Nautilus doesn't respond or give any indication to the fact that it is waiting for a response from a dialog in another workspace. Ideally I'd like to continue using Nautilus in another workspace when there is another instance waiting for input and receive some indicator in the workspace that has the focus. The indicator should also follow the user's focus. If its impractical to separate the Nautilus instances then an indicator alone would resolve the issue. Finally, thanks for contributing to and developing such a wonderful desktop environment. Other information:
Refiling to nautilus.
I can confirm this with nautilus1:2.22.1-1ubuntu3 on Ubuntu. I opened two Nautilus windows, and attempted to paste a file from the desktop with the same name as a file in Nautilus window 1 into Nautilus window 1. As expected a dialog appears asking if I want to replace the file already in that directory. Nautilus window 2 could be brought into focus, but remained unresponsive until the dialog regarding Nautilus window 1 had been resolved.
